Description

Otaniyama is not a very famous whetstone, but because of its performance, a trading company in the hairdressing industry started door-to-door sales of Otaniyama stones to barber shops across the country. Otani is located 10 km northwest of the centre of Kameoka City, Kyoto. It is collectively known as Otaniyama, which is a name for several mountains. Its heyday was around 1960.
The sharpness of the razor was directly linked to the reputation of the barber shops, and the owners were very careful in their choice of whetstone. The owner of the barbershop was convinced and purchased this razor whetstone.
In addition to razors, this grinding stone is suitable for finishing small knives, chisels and planes. As tested, it’s quick cut and slurry comes out quickly & continuously, bity edge can be made without Nagura.

 Please note that these are not for beginner sharpeners since they’re harder to use. These are natural stones meaning that every single one of them is different so my measured sizes are not accurate. This is a lifetime investment for people who live sharpening their razors  and tools, do not hesitate to ask me your questions
